Crypto Casino Comparison: Only 7 of 31 Licences Survive Checking

A crypto casino comparison usually compares bonuses and game counts. Both are marketing. We compared the thing you can actually check: whether the licence a casino advertises genuinely appears in the regulator’s own register.

The result was starker than we expected. Of 31 crypto casinos checked, only seven hold a Curaçao licence that is verified and currently valid. Five have no locatable licence at all, and one had its licence revoked.

What a licence does and does not cover

None of the casinos in this comparison holds a licence in your own country. They all operate under licences from Curaçao, Anjouan or Tobique, and a licence covers the operator, not the player. What applies where you live is yours to check — this article is not legal advice.

What a comparison can answer is the second question: if an operator claims a Curaçao licence, does it exist at all? That one is verifiable, and most sites never bother.

What the check found

As of 14 August 2026, against the Curaçao Gaming Authority register dated 6 August 2026 and its separate enforcement register dated 10 July 2026.

  • 7 of 31 — Curaçao, verified and current. BitStarz, Jackbit, TrustDice, Roobet, Sportsbets.io, Bitcasino.io, Shuffle.com.
  • 7 of 31 — Curaçao, expired or under assessment. Cloudbet, BetFury, Wild.io, Stake.com, Duelbits, Rollbit, Thunderpick. Routine under the new framework, and trading is permitted while the review runs — but it is not the same as “valid”.
  • 10 of 31 — Anjouan. Gamdom, Winz.io, FortuneJack, Metaspins, Flush, CoinPoker, Rainbet, Reel Crypto, 1xBit, Mega Dice. The lightest regulator currently in use.
  • 1 of 31 — a different regulator. Winna, through the Tobique Gaming Commission in New Brunswick.
  • 5 of 31 — no locatable licence. MyStake, Keyhouse, Vave, Betpanda, Casino BIT.
  • 1 of 31 — revoked. bc.game.

Read only the word “licensed” in a footer and you would count 31 licensed casinos. Verified and current, there are seven.

The one case where the question changes shape: Keyhouse

Keyhouse sits in the no-licence group above, which is exactly why it needs explaining that it is still our pick. At every other casino here the licence is the only authority above the operator: it is the reason you have somewhere to appeal if your balance does not come back. It protects one specific thing — your money, held by someone else.

Keyhouse does not hold it. Your wallet is your account, the funds stay on-chain, and the platform never has access to your keys. That removes the failure the licence exists to insure against: there is no withdrawal for anyone to delay, freeze or void under a clause. Your winnings are already in your wallet and you are waiting on network confirmation, nothing else.

  • No KYC. No documents, no identity check, no registration form.
  • Zero platform fees on deposits and withdrawals — you pay network gas and nothing to the platform.
  • Withdrawals in 1–5 minutes, limited only by the chain: roughly 1–2 minutes on Polygon or Arbitrum.
  • USDT and USDC across five networks — Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base, with USDT on Tron announced.
  • Every movement verifiable on-chain, in any block explorer.
  • 8,453 games from 66 providers, including Pragmatic Play, Blueprint, BGaming, Yggdrasil, Thunderkick and Playson.

It is the same custody model that made Polymarket work, applied to casino games, with settlement the moment the round ends. Read the full Keyhouse review.

The seven with a verified Curaçao licence

If you want a platform that holds your balance for you, these are the seven whose paperwork genuinely appears in the register, in score order.

  • BitStarz — 9.2. Licence OGL/2024/165/0185, Gareton B.V., status indefinite. The only casino where every licence claim matched on the first attempt in all three places we checked. One unresolved complaint out of 193 across twelve years.
  • Jackbit — 8.0. Licence OGL/2024/1800/1049, Ryker B.V., status indefinite. The cleanest papers alongside BitStarz — though no independent complaint history exists yet.
  • TrustDice — 8.0. Licence OGL/2024/664/0280, Satoshi Gaming Group N.V. Genuinely crypto-native, with in-house provably fair games.
  • Roobet — 7.5. Licence OGL/2024/687/0427, Raw Entertainment B.V.
  • Sportsbets.io — 6.5. Licence OGL/2023/110/0072, status indefinite — but an independent score of 5.9, in the band an independent assessment calls questionable.
  • Bitcasino.io — 6.0. Licence OGL/2023/111/0069.
  • Shuffle.com — 4.5. Licence OGL/2024/1337/0628: valid papers, but the rest of the record drags the score down.

A valid licence is not a seal of quality. Shuffle.com sits at 4.5 and Sportsbets.io at 6.5 even though both appear in the register. The licence is the floor, not the recommendation.

The seven in renewal

Here are the names you find in every ranking — Cloudbet (9.0), BetFury (8.8), Wild.io (7.9), Stake.com (7.8), Duelbits (7.8) — alongside two we do not recommend: Rollbit (2.5) and Thunderpick (2.0).

Their licences have expired and are being reassessed. Under the framework that replaced Curaçao’s old master-licence system this is genuinely routine, and the authority permits operating while the review runs. It is not an accusation. It is simply not the same as a valid licence, and in a comparison the difference belongs on the page.

The five with no locatable licence

Besides Keyhouse, whose case is above, there are four. MyStake (8.4) publishes neither a number nor an operating company, despite 753 complaints processed without a single unresolved one. Vave (5.5) claimed “Curaçao” with no number; TechOptions Group B.V. does not appear in the register. Betpanda (4.5) offers only a Costa Rican corporate number, which is not a gambling licence. Casino BIT (2) holds no licence from any gambling regulator.

And bc.game (4.5) is the separate case: its Curaçao licence OGL/2023/118/0060 appears in the enforcement register, revoked on 6 December 2024.

How to check a licence yourself in two minutes

  1. Find the licence number, not the company registration number. Curaçao operators have two: a five or six digit Willemstad company number, which only proves a company exists, and a licence number in the OGL/YEAR/… format. If the footer shows only the short figure, you have been shown the business registration and not the licence.
  2. Look that number up in the regulator’s own register, not on the casino’s site.
  3. Compare the company name. If the name on the register does not match the operator named on the casino, that is where you stop.

The full method is in our checklist for telling whether an online casino is legitimate.

Frequently asked questions

Which crypto casino has the best licence?

BitStarz and Jackbit: both verified in the Curaçao Gaming Authority register with status indefinite and no expiry pending. BitStarz adds twelve years of payout history; Jackbit has none yet.

Is a Curaçao licence worth anything?

Yes, but less than a licence from a major jurisdiction. It is a lighter regime with less aggressive enforcement in player disputes. Its value is that some authority exists above the operator at all — which is precisely why it matters whether the licence is real.

What about operators with no licence?

At a custodial casino with no licence you have nowhere to escalate: your balance sits with the operator and nobody stands above them. The one structurally different case is self-custody, where the balance never reaches the provider in the first place.

Are these casinos legal where I live?

That depends entirely on your jurisdiction and it changes often. Licensing covers the operator, not the player — check your local rules before depositing. This article is not legal advice.

Before you deposit

Every licence number in this comparison is published so you can look it up yourself rather than taking our word for it. If a detail here does not match what you find in the register, trust the register — and tell us.

We take affiliate commission from several of the operators named above, including some we have scored down. That is why the method is published: the number moves when the evidence moves, not when the commission does. And whatever you decide, set a deposit limit before your first bet, not after your first loss.
