Bet red, black, odd, even, high or low, and if the ball lands on zero, you get half your stake back instead of losing all of it.

That single rule cuts the house edge on those bets from 2.7% to 1.35%. It is the lowest edge available on any roulette table anywhere, and it costs you nothing to take — the rule applies automatically, you do not have to ask for it or bet differently.

Some tables use En Prison instead: your bet is held for one more spin rather than half-refunded. The long-run effect is the same 1.35%.

Is it rigged?

The number comes from a certified random number generator, and the wheel animation renders a result already decided. As with every roulette, the house does not need to interfere: the zero is the business model.

What to check instead is the casino. A great table inside a site with unresolved complaints is still a bad place to keep money — our comparison sorts sites by exactly that.

The rule only applies to half the table

This is the catch, and it is worth stating plainly. La Partage covers even-money bets only. Bet a single number, a corner or a dozen on this same table and you are back to the standard 2.7% edge, identical to European Roulette.

So French Roulette is not universally better. It is dramatically better if you play red/black or odd/even, and exactly the same as European if you do not.
