Cluster

Cluster pays throws away the payline. Instead of matching symbols along a fixed line from left to right, you win when enough identical symbols are simply touching each other anywhere on the grid — usually five or more, horizontally or vertically.

Almost every cluster game pairs this with a cascade: the winning group disappears, new symbols drop into the gap, and if that creates another cluster it pays again. One spin can therefore resolve in five or six waves, which is why these games feel generous even when the maths is not.

That is the thing to hold on to. Removing paylines does not change the return; it changes how the return is delivered. A cluster slot spreads its outcomes differently, often with long quiet stretches broken by a single chain that pays for all of them. Check the volatility before the feature list, and if a game does not publish one, treat the cascade animation as entertainment rather than evidence. The wider family lives in slots.
